Growing Up Without Social Media and the Internet

I grew up without social media. I had to learn to spend my free time productively and did other things like reading books, painting, and exercising. I also had to be creative and not spend all my weekends binge watching TV shows. I also found my own way of expressing myself, even if it wasn’t in a written form. Growing up without these technologies was a challenge, but I was very lucky to have a very good and loving family.

Nowadays, a child’s existence is mediated by the internet. Social media has become such an integral part of our daily lives that some kids are becoming disconnected from the internet altogether. Teenagers, in particular, are notorious for their constant usage of technology. This phenomenon has affected every aspect of children’s lives. Even our childhood has been transformed by technology, with our parents completely devoted to their mobile phones, tablets, and computers.
